Rosenthal – luxury and lifestyle.

Beauty and perfection of the highest standards, Rosenthal signifies nothing more and nothing less. The name itself epitomizes contemporary design and art in both porcelain and glass, and more besides: Rosenthal stands for luxury, lifestyle and a special aesthetic feeling - for products without which sophisticated tabletop culture and contemporary interiors would not be the same. Experience gathered over 130 years of company history, the will to innovate and the strong cooperation with the best international designers, architects, artists, craftsmen and celebrities guarantee the success of this exclusive company philosophy.

Rosenthal story begins in 1879 when its founder, Philipp Rosenthal decided to try his luck in this fascinating field, porcelain manufacturing, creating a simple object: an ashtray, "the resting place of lit cigarettes" which by quality and hand painted details, proved to be a first best-seller in Germany.
Rosenthal shortly adopted an innovative role in the industry - a consistent role with an unprecedented decision, only a few years after the company was founded: in 1907, Rosenthal became the first manufacturer of porcelain who has created its own independent brand by adding the name "Rosenthal" on the bottom of each product.

The 50s marks the most important period in the future of Rosenthal, a leader in innovative contemporary design. Philip Rosenthal junior who joins his father in 1950, impressed by the progress of "Industrial design" in the United States, makes the company the first manufacturer of porcelain in Europe who dared to openly embrace a new era of design. Realizing that only "Originals of our times" - will remain valuable, Philip Rosenthal Jr. invites top designers in the workshop of his company, as Walter Gropius, Marcelo Morandini, Bjorn Wiinblad to create contemporary forms for Rosenthal porcelain. Thus is born the idea for Rosenthal Studio-Line, which became a firmly independent brand since 1961.

In 1993, Rosenthal created with Versace House, the brand Rosenthal meets Versace, partnership that will make all dining services and collections of porcelain and crystal accessories originally signed by the late Gianni Versace, and later by his sister, Donatella.

Today, more than 130 years after that first ashtray, Rosenthal is still contemporary porcelain of the highest quality and a source of fascination for people around the world.
